Networking opportunities. Professional development seminars. Advocacy for more diverse news coverage. Those are just some of the benefits of joining the Charlotte Area Association of Black Journalists. I strongly encourage all of you to officially join CAABJ as a full, associate or student member.
Said Parliamentarian Cleve Wootson: "We've set an informal goal to increase membership to 50 members by July. At the Board of Directors meeting, we talked about ways to do that, but the best way is word of mouth. So we're sending out the membership application, and asking you to talk to coworkers, students, former journalists, professors, anyone you know that might be interested."
Chapter dues will support programs during the year and some administrative expenses. Dues were approved at the December 2005 general body meeting.
To join, please send the following information and a check for dues (payable to CAABJ) to Treasurer Cheryl "Chirl Girl" Patterson at V101.9 FM; 1520 South Blvd., Suite 300; Charlotte, NC 28203.
